A man from Staffordshire has handed himself into police following a series of drugs raids in Tamworth.

About 200 Staffordshire Police officers carried out the dawn raids on Monday as part of the Operation Nemesis crackdown on class A drugs supply in the town.

A 27-year-old man from Wilnecote, Tamworth, gave himself up to police on Wednesday in connection with the raids.

A 30-year-old woman from Birmingham was also arrested in Warwickshire earlier as a result of the raids.

Twelve men have been charged with supplying class A drugs and appeared at Tamworth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

One of the men pleaded guilty to supplying class A drugs and was remanded into custody for sentencing at a future date yet to be set.

The other 11 men, aged between 19 and 36, have been remanded in custody and are due to appear before Tamworth magistrates on 10 December.

A 33-year-old woman, charged with drug supply offences, was bailed to appear at court on 16 December.

A 28-year-old woman, who was arrested on Wednesday, has been released on bail until late January while investigations continue.
