Man in court for importing drugs
A youth worker accused of importing drugs from Pakistan to Belfast has been refused bail.
Colin O’Brien, 36, was arrested after police intercepted a parcel containing nearly 17,000 valium tablets which was addressed to a lock-up he rented.
Another 16,000 pills were found in his home at Clonfadden Crescent in Belfast.
The court heard that Mr O’Brien had told officers at the time of his arrest that there were “issues of duress” surrounding his alleged involvement.
Mr O’Brien was charged with possessing Class C drugs with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of Class C Drugs.
A defence lawyer confirmed his client claimed he was under duress without elaborating on the specifics.
Bail was refused by Mr Justice Stephens.
