Officer resigns over drug arrest
A Merseyside police officer has resigned after collapsing at his home after allegedly taking a Class A drug.
Pc Paul Draper from Garston was rushed to hospital after he started having a fit during a party at his home.
When the 28-year-old was discharged on 5 August he was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug.
Merseyside Police said a thorough investigation was under way and the matter had been reported to the Crown Prosecution Service.
In a statement Merseyside police confirmed an officer had been arrested following “an incident in which an ambulance was called to his home and he was taken to hospital”.
The statement went on to say that the officer had been arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug.
