Submitted by admin on Friday, 22 August 2008

A man has been arrested after a police officer “sniffed” out a haul of cannabis at a flat on Tyneside.

The officer was on routine patrol in the corridors of Bewick Court, Newcastle, when he became suspicious after smelling the drug.

The property was later raided and up to 10 grams of the drug was recovered, Northumbria Police said.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and is being questioned.
